8th Grade Poetry!

Posted by samishpatrol on May 2, 2007

I just came across some poetry that I had written back in the 8th grade. Looking over it, I can not believe the Teacher gave me an ‘A’. LOL!

Here are some of the poems I actually like, most are just ridiculous. Needless to say, most of this was done the night or two before our poetry final was to be turned in. We had like a month to wrote 25 different poems based on different types of poetry and I did it in like two nights and got an ‘A’. Again, still can not believe it!

“You”

Your face
makes my heart flutter.

Everything about you
is wonderful.

Your beauty
amazes me.

Your heart
is caring and nurturing.

I love you, YOU!

“Fred” (ok, now this is funny…remember…8th grade)

Fred was a good guy
who always found a good buy

He was very smart
And had a good heart

He always cared
Once even saved his brother from a bear

Fred may have been shy
but never a sly

Too poor for the store

I went to the store
to buy a door
and some tiles for my new floor
When I found out that I was too poor
to buy a door
and some tiles for my new floor
So I left the store
And started walking home when my pants tore

What would she say?

She sat in her chair
messing with her hair.

Her eyes so blue,
What should i do?

Should I, Could I
What would she say
If i asked her out on a date?

Will she laugh
or simply say no?
Will she say yes and make my day?

I’ll probably never no.

Words (oh lordy…what is up with all these love poems…..i was in 8th grade for goodness sakes!)

Words can’t explain what I feel for you.
Your beauty leaves me in awe.
I’d give anything to kiss you.
You stole my heart and I don’t want it back.
Because I want to share it with you.

"I wish it would change"

Posted by samishpatrol on May 2, 2007

“I wish it would change” are some lyrics i wrote back in 1998. I was around 12 years of age when I wrote this. A friend of mine, Songwriter and Pianist Sandy Johnsen, wrote music for it and had a church member perform it at the Fine Arts Retreat like 7 or 8 years ago. I kind of forgot about this song. It has probably been a couple of years since I last came across it.

Brief Background (really brief): I was at my dads home watching the news one evening and after hearing the reports on the days events I went to the bedroom that I shared with my brothers and wrote this. Seems like so long ago now!

“I wish it would change”
Lyrics: Sean Langdon
Music: Sandy Johnsen

I saw a poor girl on the news, they said she’d been abused
She was really confused and I just had to cry
Her step-father should be ashamed
I wonder how much she’s in pain

A gang fight broke out in the alley, gunshots were fired
2 teenage kids caught in the line of fire,
and were labeled critical
The gang was never found

chorus:
What’s happening to this world
there’s so much crime that it’s insane
there’s crime on the streets and in the air
Yeah, i wish it would change

A horrible accident happened the other day,
the driver was drunk, a family of 4 was killed
going 80 in a 50 mile per hour zone
He was put on death row.

(repeat chorus)

Yeah, it’s insane

When will it change
