This is a great recipe that I got from an elderly lady at church a few years back. She would bring to our Thursday Night Spiritual Growth Classes on occasion and it was always so good! If you like apple crisp then your gonna love this!
Apple Crisp
Ingredients:
6 tart apples
1 C. sugar
1/4 t. ground cloves
1/2 t. cinnamon
2 t. lemon juice,
1/4 C. sifted flour
1/8 t. salt6 T. butter
1/4 C. chopped nut meats
Whipped cream or ice cream.
Directions:
Preheat oven to moderate (350 deg. F.)
Peel, core and slice the apples into a bowl.
Add 1/2 C. of the sugar, the spices and lemon juice.
Mix lightly and pour into a buttered 1 & 1/2 quart casserole.
Blend the remaining sugar, flour, salt and butter into a crumbling consistency.
Add the nuts and sprinkle over the apples mixture.
Bake 45 minutes or until the apples are tender and the crust is nicely browned.
Serve with whipped cream or ice cream.
I like to bake it longer to make the juice thicker.
Depends on juiciness of apples.
Serves 6.
